LEGO – Star Wars
A best seller every year, continuing this year is Lego Star Wars. For the parents, spouses, etc. of Lego fans, Lego is a no brainer for a Christmas gift. They are economical, practical and loved worldwide. They have been best sellers every year simply because parents and consumers all agree that there is real value in Lego sets.
For many parents, they understand that Lego is an educational toy. It helps the builder to expand on his creativity and imagination. The more pieces you have, the more difficult it appears sometimes to store the parts, but plastic tubs usually take care of that problem.
According to this year’s Toy Fair in New York, one of this year’s hot Lego sets are going to be Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon. This is a newer version of a past favorite. Han Solo’s ship from the original Lego Series and the Star Wars movie has been enhanced. This set is over 1,200 pieces, but full of detail. Details such as more than 15 inches wide, 4 inches tall when completed. It actually finishes in the distinctive round shape and the right-hand cylindrical cockpit. You also find rotating top and bottom mounted quad-laser turrets, the cockpit cover, as well as firing twin flick rockets.
Other popular sets this year will be the Ewok Attack and the Republic Frigate. With the Ewok attack, you can set the Ewok village up for a surprise attack on the Imperial scout troops with stones thrown from a catapult and tumbling logs. That’s sure to keep the scout troops at bay. The Republic Frigate has a detachable escpe pod, flick missle, an opening cockpit, not to mention rotating turbolaser cannons, proton torpedo launcher, a retractable undercarriage as well as opening hatches and a detailed interior. This also comes with numerous figures.
Recreate the Boonta Eve Classic podrace with the Lego Star Wars Sebulba and Anakin’s Podracer. In your hand will be the power of the force as a young Anakin races Sebulba. Some of the figures included with this set have double heads, meaning one side of the head has one expression on the face and the other side of the head has a different expression. You will be able to fly all over with this set.
If your little builder prefers the bounty hunters, he/she will want the Bounty Hunter gunship, which comes ith the bounty huntewrs Sugi, Aurra Sing, Embo and the IG-88 Assassin Droid. There is also the Battle of Naboo with its 8 battle droid with blasters, 2 droid pilots and Jar Jar Binks and Gungan scout figures, or the Clone Trooper Battle Pack with a clone commander, 2 new bomb squad toopers and a new ARF trooper. A great set to add on to any existing Lego Star Wars collections.
For those die-hard Star Wars fans, the Lego Star Wars Death Star as seen in the original movie is still considered one of the most popular items listed at Amazon.com. This pack includes 6 mini-figures and has been touted as being extremely authentic and in-line with the model used in the movie. This is a big set and may take awhile to put together, but you will have fun doing so.
However, if you already have a Death Star, you could take a look at any of the Mellinnium Falcons that are available. The Midi Scale Mellinnium Falcon is as popular as the larger version. Depending on your taste for Star Wars versions, if you prefer the latter, then perhaps the Naboo N-1 Star Fighter that comes with the Vulture Droid will be what you are looking for.
The Star Wars Clone Wars sets are as popular as many of the other Lego Star Wars sets. Many of them are under $20, and very affordable. Each set contains the popular characters of the original movie, making them great additions to any sets you may already have.
While some of the Lego sets may seem expensive, once you consider how long the sets will last, how durable the pieces are and that they can be passed down from generation to generation, you will see that they actually cost very little over the long run. Not to mention the hours your child will spend being creative and stretching their imaginations.
