Regardless of the medium used i.e. Wii, DS or Playstation, the basics are the same. The game is set in Gotham City where Batman and Robin are fighting to return the villains to the asylum. They fight through the sea, land and air in various Batmobiles including the stealthy Batwing. You have to build certain things and solve various puzzles to unlock special powers etc. You don’t need to be an expert on the Batman story either. This particular game, unlike Lego Indiana Jones ” target=”_blank”>Lego Indiana Jones doesn’t follow the movie script.

Every level needs to be played twice, once in story mode and once in free play. In story mode, you get to unlock various characters which you then use to play in the free play mode. Once in free play you get to solve puzzles and release bonuses. You can also build vehicles and weapons to use to fight your enemies. The characters have individual moves and there are many different elements to the game so you or your kids won’t get bored playing. Young kids may struggle a little with the moves but with a little help they should be fine. Most will appreciate that unlike some other Wii games you don’t have to start again if you die but simply lose coins.

Although we like to think that kids love the goodies, it is fair to say that they can like playing the baddies just as much if not more. With this game it is possible to play from both sides i.e. they can be Batman or Robin or they may prefer to be one of the villains such as Joker, Catwoman or Penguin.

The Lego Batman game can be played either alone or with other people for extra fun. If you get stuck on a level and can’t find your way out there are plenty of videos on YouTube with solutions. It is fun trying to solve the puzzles yourself but sometimes it can get a little frustrating. Of course if you want to cheat your way through the Lego Batman game you can find plenty of clues to help you do this but that really ruins the fun of this fantastic game.
